Flower Girls.

Jul 31, 2011

These are my sweethearts, my precious little girls. I used to be their nanny and now they are my cutest little friends. McKenna, Ruby & Josephine are going to be the flower girls for our wedding and they are so excited. We spent quite a bit of time today with them telling me their wacky ideas for our wedding. I won't be using them but it was definitely fun to hear their creativity! I love these little girls so much.

We have one more flower girl who isn't in these pictures, Miss Ella is my friend Katie's adorable baby and she will be one at the time of the wedding. She may or may not be walking down the isle but she's going to be adorable in her purple dress and hair flower!

Wedding Book.

Jul 29, 2011

I have the OCD bug. Sometimes it's horrid but sometimes it's not so bad. When it comes to planning things it's not so bad! I spent part of yesterday and part of today putting together my own wedding planning book. You see, there was not a single wedding planning book on the shelves that worked for what I wanted. They had so many useless topics and not enough of the things that I needed! Instead of letting this get me down I simply went home to my computer and created my own. Complete with tabs to mark the different sections and pockets to store cards and color samples. It was much easier than buying a useless book and (in my opinion) a whole lot cuter! Who said planning a wedding has to be hard?

A Flower Adventure.

Jul 26, 2011

I absolutely love crafts and making things so it should come as no surprise that I've taken a large part of our wedding on for myself to put together. I've been playing around with the idea of making the boutonnieres and bouquets but I wasn't sure about it. I've never done anythings with flowers so I had no idea how it would turn out! Today I went to the store and bought a dozen white roses and all sorts of ribbon in black and purple shades and sizes. Morgan and I looked at some pictures and then set to making things our own way. I think they turned out rather well, especially for our first try!

Second Time's The Charm.

Today Cori and I made white chocolate fudge, vanilla fudge and a different chocolate fudge than the one we made yesterday. The white chocolate and vanilla were so fun because we dyed them purple to match our wedding colors. They also tasted great. But the best was the chocolate fudge. It has a secret ingredient that made us skeptical of even trying it, call it morbid curiosity! But it tastes absolutely amazing! We will definitely be using that recipe come wedding time.

A Lesson In Fudge.

Jul 25, 2011

I decided I want homemade fudge at our wedding reception so today began my and Cori's experimentation into the world of fudge. The first we made was a standard chocolate fudge. It was pretty good but I can think of one, maybe two things about it I'll change for the next time. The second was a small stroke of genius (if I may say so)- Cori and I made a chocolate & butterscotch swirled fudge. It was phenomenal. Absolutely perfect. The chocolate was a semi-sweet and went quite well with the extra-sweet butterscotch flavor. Tomorrow we experiment with white chocolate and vanilla fudge and possibly another chocolate!

Let's Talk About Veils.

Jul 21, 2011

My wedding dress is beautiful. Now it's on to the next task every bride must face. Veil or no veil? Hair piece or no hair piece? I've looked at what feels like a thousand veils and haven't found "the one" so I've decided to try my hand at making my own. Partially because I can't find one I love and partially because I refuse to pay $400 for a piece of tulle sewn to a hair comb. I found this cute little chart that details the different types of veils, convenient right?
After a lot of debate with myself and sometimes with my closest friends I think I've decided on a cathedral veil and I'm very excited about it! My wedding dress has no train, it just brushes the ground lightly on all sides of me. I love this feature of my dress because there's no bustle, no tripping, no dragging dust and dirt behind me. However there's also no long prettiness trailing out behind me for pictures or the ceremony. So the cathedral veil seems perfect, right? I get the beauty of the train and when I'm done with it I can just take it out of my hair. I'm definitely not a tiara kind of girl. I've only worn one once and it was the only time I'll ever find it necessary. The search is still on for the perfect clip to wear in my hair once the veil comes out. One thing at a time though! Tomorrow my friend Jessi and I are going to collect everything to make a big beautiful veil. Since I love doing anything wedding-related tomorrow will be a wonderful day!

Sneak Peak.

Jul 20, 2011

Aaron and I had our engagement pictures done by my fantastic cousin Aja on Monday. She was so much fun to work with and I'm more excited than ever to have her as our wedding photographer. She has a great eye for details and does really funky, cool photographs. These two are just a little sneak peak from our picture-taking adventure. Enjoy!

Bliss.

Jul 19, 2011

The sad news is my Aaron left today. The happy news is I had a WONDERFUL time while he was here, thus the title of this post. The other happy news is next time I see him we will be days away from our wedding. I'm trying to keep both of those happy thoughts while we are apart for the next few months. I was a complete slacker on the picture end of things but I did manage to snap a few. In fairness we had our engagement pictures taken while Aaron was here so we were both a little pictured out. There are only so many times you can smile in the hot summer sun before you never want to see a camera again.

While Aaron was in the States we managed to get a lot done.
  • I flew to Kansas City, Missouri to meet his parents for the first time.
  • We went to dinner at a brazilian barbecue restaurant with Aaron's parents.
  • We went to breakfast with both of Aaron's grandmothers.
  • We attended his best friend's wedding where Aaron was the best man.
  • We went on a date.
  • We traveled back to Utah so Aaron could meet my family.
  • Aaron got to try our famous homemade eggrolls, it's our specialty at the Harman house and I swear we're becoming known for them.
  • Aaron met many of my friends who stopped by the house to catch a glimpse of him.
  • We had our engagement pictures taken by my fabulous cousin Aja.
  • We went to Harry Potter 7.2 with my sisters.
  • We went to Eden for a barbecue with the Best & Clegg families.
  • We went to the clubhouse so Aaron could see where we're getting married.
  • Aaron drove an Aston Martin.
  • We went wedding ring shopping for both of us.
  • We found the absolute perfect ring for me, both our jaws dropped a little when we slipped it on my finger.
  • We went to lunch at Winger's with my mom.
  • We spent lots of time snuggling/kissing/being affectionate.
  • We held hands as often as we could.
  • We enjoyed every moment of togetherness that we had.
Overall I call this trip an absolute success. I can't wait for his next one... you know, the one where we get to be husband and wife!

Goodbye Harry.

Jul 18, 2011

It's official. The endless wait for the release of Harry Potter books and movies has finally come to a close! Movie 7.2 was fabulous. Obviously not as amazing as the book but I felt that justice was done. I absolutely adored the scenes featuring the Ron-Hermione relationship and was appalled by the Harry-Ginny kissing chemistry or lack thereof. Beyond that I loved it. Morgan and I had to wait 3 whole days to see the movie. We've had a long standing tradition of going to every movie together and we couldn't make an exception for the final showdown! So we waited very impatiently to be in the same city and went at our first opportunity! I'll just say, it was worth the wait. And as long as I'm still enthralled by the absolute magic of the world of Harry Potter the journey will never truly be over. Now we get to follow the owl to Pottermore and beyond!

Mac Baby.

All blogging present and future will be brought to you by my beautiful new Mac baby. Isn't it divine?

Just To See Me Smile.

Jul 5, 2011

I've been going through a difficult time the past few weeks and it all boils down to one thing: my fiance lives in a different country. It's difficult. Much more difficult than I can explain to anyone. I love him. My heart is unhappy when he's not here. That's about as sappy as I know how to be. But I miss him more than anything. Today this came to my door.

He said it was just to see me smile
It worked. He is amazing.
